Hello! Wow, well, we are two days away from a weekend and I am ready for sure. I had a busy day and I have a feeling tomorrow will be ever more busy at work. While working on my last couple things of the day, I snacked on a banana bread Larabar.
After work I headed downstairs to the gym. I ran a fantastic 5 miles in 46 minutes while listening to my favorite running playlist. After my run I cooled down with a slow 2 minute walk and did a number of hamstring stretches. My hamstrings were SUPER tight. I was one of those stretches that hurt, but felt good at the same time. After my run, I hopped in the shower, got dressed and headed home.
Dinner was homemade turkey burgers made by Chef Adam on whole wheat Arnold sandwich thins and some sweet potato fries.
I topped mine with a little goat cheese and A LOT of mustard.
On the side I made small salads for us as well.
This dinner was great and I was glad to be able to sit and chat with Adam, lately we have been doing dinner on our own in passing and I loved having a yummy dinner with him. After dinner we did the dishes and then spent about an hour and a half with our DVR. It was nice to relax

Q: How many days a week do you exercise to maintain your current weight? A normal week when you’re not crazy busy with work and school?
A: I work out about 5-6 days a week to maintain my weight and my sanity. Exercise is my stress relief
Q: What is your dream job?
A: My dream job would be a tie between a guidance counselor in a urban or suburban high school and a personal trainer. I would need a job where I help people for sure. I think I am lucky enough, that someday I will be able to do both
Q: Love your blog. You are VERY inspiring! I want to start running but I am having a hard time. I started by walking on the treadmill for about 10 minutes and then attempting to run for 1 minute every couple of minutes. The first time I was only able to run 4 minutes and it was hard!!! Can you tell us exactly how you did it? Did you use a treadmill and how did you add miles or running time!
A: I get this question A LOT. Honestly, there is no secret formula, I just started running. I could barely do a mile at first, but I kept pushing adding 1/4 of a mile at a time. It was HARD AS HELL! Like really, really hard. But I wanted it so bad. Sheer determination got me through my first few months of running. My advice is, Just Do It. Just like Nike says, push through the exhaustion and the heavy breathing and go a little further or a little harder each time. It was get easier I promise. If I can do it, you can!!!
Q: You and Adam seem to have such a great relationship! What are your tips for a healthy relationship?
A: Awwww, thank you! Adam and I do have a great relationship, even if I do say so myself
I actually wrote down some ideas when answering this questions and then I asked Adam what he thought. Luckily, we both thing the same things make our relationship so great…go figure!
- Mutual respect
- No egos!
- Unshakable support for each other
- LAUGHING TOGETHER (we do this all the time)
- Having things you both enjoy doing together
- Common values
- Alike interests
- Desire to see the other one happy
- Being able to sacrifice to do what is best for both of you
- Talking things out
Q: This may go into the 5 percent of unanswered questions, but here it goes. I love to run and have been doing so for 2 years. I ran my first marathon this past October. My problem is that I love to eat healthy like spinach and veggie chili. I am training at a gym due to the slippery roads and have been having embarrassing gas. I have tried Beano but nothing I do seems to work. Any suggestion?
A: HAHAHAHA! This one is something some may consider too personal, but not me. I read this one to Adam and he cracked up! Girl (or guy), I have got the same problem!!!! I get so gassy sometimes when I run, it is no joke! Sometimes, I get really bad gas, sometimes no gas at all. I hate to say it, but I just let it rip…is that bad? I am sorry if you are on the treadmill next to me, but when I have to let it out I do. Most likely, the person next to you is doing it too. Sometimes, when Adam and I are running next to each other, I will let one out. He will get this grossed out look on his face and say, “Seriously, Al? I mean, really!” I just have to laugh. If I don’t let it out I get a belly ache and can’t run. So I guess the short answer is: Nope, sorry, I know of no cure. Any readers out there want to help us out?
Q: I am trying to lose weight but I am seeing it come off VERRRRY slowly. I am working out more (3-4 times a week) and changed my eating habits (more veggies, fruits, whole grains, less sweets). What do you think was the key to your success??
A: Well, let me start by saying it came off VERY slowly for me too! It took me 8 months to loose 30 pounds that is about 4.5 pounds a month. I would say the key to my success was being consistent. I was very consistent with my eating habits and my working out. I worked hard at it all day, everyday, no excuses.
Q: Here’s a silly question….when you have your hard boiled egg whites, what do you do with the yolks? Do you save them for something else, give them to Adam or toss em? I was boiling some eggs so it made me curious. haha
A: Well, the reason I don’t eat yolks is because they gross me out and I dislike the taste. I either throw them out for feed them to Oscar…he loves them!
I am accepting “Ask Me Anything” Questions until Friday, March 5th, so hurry up and get them in. To submit an question, click here.
Well, I am going to get ready for bed. See you tomorrow!

Ive noticed the few times I do run inside on a treadmill, if its after work (and eating all day) I have that problem, but i just keep my music loud enough that i don’t hear them, which helps me pretend that no one else can. I’m with Ali, Let em rip! haha
To the reader who asked about how to start running, this might help

I did it at first but used week 2 as my week 1.
Thanks, Jill! I am sure that will help!
Great q&a post! Thanks for the honesty, it’s so refreshing to hear!
HAHAHA laughing out loud at the gas question. Seriously, let us know if anyone has a good solution, please! I’ve definitely had some days that I decide running outside will be a better option just because of this very reason
.
For the person who asked about running, I suggest the Couch to 5K program. It’s how I built up my endurance initially. Now I’m training for an 8K and working on improving my breathing.
When I started running – I started the same way. I went from 2 years of “speed walking”, for lack of a better term, to running 1/4 of a mile and adding a little bit further each time.
As I got more comfortable, I started running for 7 minutes, walking for 1 minute, repetitively for about 45 minutes a few times a week. Every week, I would add a minute to the run time. The run/walk program is super popular – and it really works. It takes time, but all of a sudden you will find yourself running 5 miles, no problem.
I am training for the Boston Marathon right now, and sometimes I am amazed at how far I have come in such a short time. I have only been running for a year.
Great post, Ali.

I just read an article in Runners World about how ALL of us runners fart while we run and we need to stop judging one another.
I’m the first to laugh at a tredmill toot AND known to hold em in and get crampy and sick feeling SOOOOOO….I vow to not judge or giggle at other runners who have gas issues and in turn will try to become more comfortable with letting them out!
