Well, it is 10pm and I am just getting home. Don’t you love days like that?! I actually had a good day though. Before heading to class, I had a quick coffee from the work coffee maker. I made the Milkyway latte this time, it was really good. I had never tried it before. How come no one told me how good this is?! That’s it, the girls that work in my office and knew about how good this was and didn’t tell me are in trouble!
My afternoon snack was some fruit, grapes and cantaloupe.
Class was actually really fun, we did some roles plays doing practice counseling sessions. I learned a lot about how the way I talk and my body language is observed by others. I found it very helpful and it was a great learning experience. After class, I bolded to the train and rode to my part-time job where my car was parked. I hoped in the car and drove 15 minutes to the closest Healthworks to try and make a 7:30 pm Body Pump class. While driving, I ate my dinner. Not my favorite way to enjoy a meal, but what can you do? Dinner was a turkey sandwich on whole wheat tuscan bread with spicy hummus, guacamole, spinach and cucumbers.
Sorry about the dark pictures, they were taken in the car. I did end up making it to BP in time and I was thrilled to get in a good workout! This class mixed up tracks from all different routines and it was fun to do tracks I have never done before! After Body Pump, I took a quick shower at the gym and drove home. When I got home I was starving. I snacked on some popchips that I meant to bring as part of my dinner, but forgot. The camera ate my picture, but you guys know what Popchips look like, right?
Dessert was a cup of chamomile tea (which I am still drinking) and some dark chocolate covered pretzel slims from Trader Joe’s.
These things are freakin awesome! OH MY GOSH!!! I am telling you, seriously, run out to TJ’s right now and get some. RIGHT NOW! These are going to be very dangerous in this house…very dangerous!
Ask Me Anything Questions:
Q: What brand/kind protein powder do you buy? Specifically the chocolate… and you use that in addition to the green superfood right?
A: The protein powder I use is by Designer Whey, but I think it as been discontinued. So once I run out, I will have to get a new one and I will let you guys know what I get. Yes, I use it in addition to the Green Superfood.
Q: This is rude – and I’m sorry, but I’m a new reader and I don’t know what Adam looks like. Is he overweight, and is it awkward that you lost weight?
A: I didn’t feel like this one was rude, but it did make me laugh. It is funny because I have been with Adam for 11 years and he has ALWAYS been in far better shape than me. Adam is a born athlete, he is good at everything he has tried, He started swimming at the age of 6 and also played football and lacrosse. Adam also loves running and weight training. We run together a lot, I love running with Adam it is something we both enjoy doing together. I am working on getting him to try yoga, it is the best complement to a run and I think he would really like. So, I guess the short answer is, Adam is not overweight. He is actually in excellent shape. Here is a picture of him for the new readers that have not seen him before.
Oscar (our dog) and Adam make several appearances for new readers, so look out for them! As far is whether is is awkward that I lost weight, not at all. Adam was THE MOST SUPPORTIVE person of anyone I know when I decided to change my lifestyle. He was excited that I was getting more active. My new way of eating took some getting used to for him. He is a really plain eater so he thinks some things I eat are strange. But my habits have influenced him a little bit. He loves popchips and Barney Butter. He now traders burgers for turkey burgers and loves pizza with whole wheat crust.
Q: Here’s one about your fashion. Your outfits always look so cute and “put together”. There’s a big difference between a random t-shirt/jeans and an “outfit”. I recently graduated and really want to make a change in how I dress/present myself. I’m stuck in the undergraduate rut of t-shirt and jeans every day (I have a really casual job). Have you always dressed so cute or did you develop your style over time? Do you have any suggestions for how to gradually develop a wardrobe that consists of more than solid colored t-shirts and ripped jeans? I think I have a decent sense of style, I just don’t know where to start. I see cute outfits around me all the time (and on your blog) but can’t seem to put one together to save my life!
A: Well, I have always been interested in fashion. I remember loving shoes as a child. I would walk around the house in my mom’s fancy shoes all the time. I actually had these pair of red patent leather Mary Jane’s that I loved when I was 5. Like all kids, I grew and they got too small. So, naturally my mom threw them out. I was so upset I called my Pa and he came over and dug them out of the trash for me
I actually did a post where I included some tips for putting together great outfits. You can find it here, it is a long post to keep scrolling!
Q: I lost a pant size by running 4-5 days a week and fell in love with running for run and road races. However, I developed an injury that prevents me from running as much as I’d like. As a consequence, I’ve started to gain a little weight back. I’ve stuck to cycling, but my heart is not in it as much as running. Do you have any suggestions for those trying to lose/maintain weight but are starting to fall off the wagon? Thanks!
A: This is a tough one. Normally, I would say find a workout you love, that is the key. It looks like you did, and now can’t do it because of an injury. I would say keep trying out other things. It seems like cycling is not fun for you. Have to tried classes like rebound or dance classes? In my experience, finding something you love will keep you going back for more.
Q: Had you ever been a runner before you started to loose the weight? If not how did you become a runner?
A: Nope! I was not a runner at all. I get the question A LOT. The easiest way to become a runner is to just start running. I am serious! That is how I did it, there is not formula, just start running. It will be hard, but you will improve. Just push a little harder each time and before you know it you will be faster and stronger.
I got a question about my height, I already addressed that in one of the last few posts, I am almost 5’6. I got one about my engagement ring, I answered that this morning, here is the post with a picture of it.

Bahaha I giggled about the “is Adam overweight” question. Random much? My hubbie is the same way. I swear he is good at EVERYTHING from all sports to darts to corn hole. It’s so frustrating lol!
